New records of phytoseiid mites (Acari: Phytoseiidae) on solanaceous plants in the Syrian coastal region

Phytoseiid mites have been considered the most promising predators for control of pest and small insects. Their use in solanaceous crops biological major mite pests represents an important challenge requires continued research. This study aimed at investigating phytoseiid species their associated phytophagous on eggplant (Solanum melongena), tomato lycopersicum) black nightshade nigrum) Syrian coastal region between 2018 2020, 40 sites. A total 12 three subfamilies (Amblyseiinae Muma, Phytoseiinae Berlese, Typhlodrominae Scheuten) were collected, with Amblysiinae being represented. Among them, Amblyseius andersoni (Chant) is a new record fauna. Phytoseiulus persimilis Athias-Henriot was abundant (223 specimens; 47.3%) frequent (found 22 out sites) collected all plant surveyed only common greenhouses. The second Neoseiulus californicus (McGregor) (83 specimens: 17.6%), while Phytoseius finitimus Ribaga (8 sites). Species found this should be future research as agents cultivated greenhouses open fields region.
